Feet in the vineyard

There is a bumper sticker once seen frequently that read, “Think Globally. Act Locally.” Unlike the musings on most bumper stickers, there’s great wisdom in those words. Aren’t we all guilty at some point of focusing our attention on a crisis across...

Moore to Ponder

Years ago when I was traveling to private schools on behalf of a ministry I then directed, I stopped in Colorado Springs to visit the Fountain Valley School. The headmaster, knowing that I was unfamiliar with the beauties of the West, one evening drove m...

Life is busy. We are busier than ever with work, school, after-school activities, non-stop texts and emails, events, commitments with extended family and friends, caring for aging parents, doctor appointments, church, trying to get (or stay) in shape, community...

When Earl Fain IV, better known to most who knew him as “Baron,” died suddenly on July 31 it was a loss to many. His lovely wife Courtenay and fine son, Tradd, lost a devoted husband and loving father, many — myself included — lost a close and trusted friend; a host of...

Dear Rob,

After intellectually crushing you last month by convincing my legion of fans and followers that Christmas should be celebrated in the weeks leading up to Christmas, it occurred to me that, as a good Catholic lad, you may be a music-during-church curmud...

A signal to the seeker,
a friend to the faithful

The Carolina Compass is designed to appeal to the faithful as well as the seeker, giving historical windows into church life and showing the hands and feet of the faithful doing good works in their communities. We shall also shine a light on worldwide persecution of Christians and how we can support the faithful. A wide variety of perspectives on faith, mission work and healing will be inside the paper. Christian correspondents come from all over the globe and up and down our coast.
